Today's post Romantic Vintage Plus Size Wedding Dresses from VintageDancer.com.

Soft, ethereal, romantic and vintage wedding dresses are many bride’s dream attire. The hunt for the perfect vintage-inspired wedding dress begins almost immediately after an engagement. It was the first decision I made about my wedding as it set the tone for my groom’s clothing, wedding party dresses, and themed decor. I chose to replicate an 1896 Worth dinner gown which I love but if I were to get married again or have a vowel renewal I would choose something a little less elaborate yet still vintage and romantic. I would choose something like a Nataya brand wedding dress. Nataya designs are simple, easy to wear, yet very vintage. I own one in black that always gets many compliments so I know a white, ivory or colored wedding gown would receive the same attention. In case you were wondering, most Nataya dresses come in sizes up to 3XL so brides in need of a plus size vintage wedding dress will have many choices.

This article is graciously sponsored by Wardrobeshop.com who carries Nataya brand dresses as well as Victorian, Western, boho and 1920s inspired wedding dresses, party dresses, shoes, and accessories.

To show off some of my favorite romantic vintage wedding dresses and accessories we begin with the late Victorian and Edwardian era (turn of the century) where wedding gowns ditched hoops and bustles for a simple, streamlined shape with oodles of lace, embroidery, and soft draping that make this time period known as a romantic fashion era.  It is a perfect theme for a vintage wedding.

The Victoria Vintage Style Party Gown in Ivory by Nataya is a perfect gown for a vintage wedding. Look closely and you will see soutache embroidery scattered across the dress with two layers of tulle. I love that Nataya dresses never had a fitted waist making them easy to wear and able to accommodate a large chest.

To accessorize this dress in the Victorian era I would choose either lace up white granny boots or simple white satin pumps. White lace gloves are essential as well as Victorian-era jewelry such as a cameo necklace or brooch. A long lace veil over a Victorian style updo or long loose curls would top this outfit perfectly.

Antique Wedding Gown

An alternative to wearing a white or ivory wedding dress would be to go for a subtle color (or even black for a gothic Victorian look.) This Downton Abbey Tea Party Gown in Pearl by Nataya has a lovely bronze tone to it that looks antiqued. It would be ideal for a second wedding, mother of the brides or groom,  or outdoor nature/boho/Steampunk theme.

I would accessorize this gown with lace-up boots for an antique look or sandals for an earthy boho theme. Gloves are optional but I would prefer to show an antique cuff bracelet or flower corsage instead. A gold-tone necklace works well for this dress and maybe a mini top hat or hairpiece for a Steampunk inspired wedding outfit.

1920s Wedding Dress

Since the 1920s/ Great Gatsby/ Prohibition-themed wedding took off a few years ago so have a plethora of beaded and sequin wedding dresses. They make great wedding reception dresses but authentic 1920s wedding dresses were softer and without the bling. The Great Gatsby Party Dress in Ivory by Nataya is the most accurate 20s wedding gown I have found online. The tiers that drape to the side are similar to the vintage 1920s wedding dress below.

Complete the wedding dress with white stockings and white Mary Jane or T -strap shoes. A simple pearl necklace is what the bride wore above with a Juliet cap wedding veil. You could sparkle this 20s wedding dress up with these beaded wedding shoes (in white or blue!) and a feather or rhinestone headband.

1960s Wedding Dress

Jumping ahead a few decades wedding gowns returned to their romantic roots after a few decades of sleek, sexy dresses and big ballgowns. The 1960s bride wore an Edwardian era inspired column dress with Empire waist. The late 60s hippie turned to daisies to decorate short and long wedding dresses. That is what I love about this Audrey Vintage Style Party Gown in Ivory by Nataya. It has swiss dot insets on the sleeves and daisy flower trim across the bodice and sleeve cuffs. It is charming, vintage and hippie rolled into one.

Since the sixties favored flats instead of heels I would choose these jewel clip flats to wear. A daisy choker necklace would be a cute accent as well as a short tulle veil.

1970s Hippie Wedding Dress

The final dress continues the boho vintage hippie look into the 1970s. This is the current trend in vintage wedding dresses. Brides are turning back to the 70s when peasant dresses, prairie dresses, maxi gowns and lace kaftan’s walked down the aisle. Almost any of the Nataya dresses could be worn in the vintage hippie style. I picked the Celine Vintage Style Wedding Gown in Ivory by Nataya with swiss dot sleeves, crochet sleeve trim, corset back and silk embroidered leaves all over. It is earthy, romantic and vintage.

70s brides wore sandals under their wedding dresses. White was best but I like how they paired brown boho sandals with the dress above. It makes it more casual and rustic.  Big tulle veils were worn by brides while bridesmaids wore sheer floppy hats. Since I love hats I would be included to ditch the veil and wear a white floppy hat or headband of flowers with this hippie wedding dress.

I mentioned above the Nataya dresses come in a full range of plus sizes. It is hard to envision them on models so I asked WardorbeShop to share some real brides and mother of the bride/grooms wedding outfits with you.  Aren’t they lovely? You can see more real bride pictures on Pinterest.
